Michael Falco

Executive Director of Incite and the Columbia Center for Oral History Research.

Michael Falco (they/them) has served in leadership roles at Incite since its inception in 2012. In 2013, they oversaw the integration of the Columbia Center for Oral History Research and its research agenda into Incite. Michael has managed more than three dozen grant-funded projects and annual budgets in excess of .2 million. They play a leadership and project design role on several projects, including the Human Rights Campaign Oral History project, the Obama Presidency Oral History, Assembling Voices, and Logic(s) Magazine.

For the Obama Presidency Oral History, they played an essential role in the project's design and conception and was a primary point of contact for the project with the Columbia University President's Office and with the Obama Foundation. They also conducted several interviews on queer and trans experience with administration officials and movement leaders.

Michael holds a Master of Arts Degree in Media Studies from The New School and an Executive Master of Policy and Administration with a concentration in International Economic Policy and Management from Columbia University. They were Communications Director for Columbia's Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy from 2010-2012. Michael is also Assistant Director for the Deepak and Neera Raj Center on Indian Economic Policies.

Prior to arriving at Columbia University, Michael helped launch the Religion, Faith & Values program at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Digital Media Strategy department at Pro-Media Communications. They were acting managing editor of the Creston News Advertiser in Creston, Iowa. Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
